Senior Brady Moorehead is a class officer and is very active in extracurriculars and clubs. Brady is known by others as an extroverted, kind, and hard-working person. You can find Brady at robotics club, soccer or track practice, thrifting, playing Magic: The Gathering, or snowboarding.
You’re on the robotics team;, what made you take the leap to join?
I always did FIRST Lego League when I was younger back in elementary school, and once I got to high school, my friend Sean kind of pressured me into joining, and it was a lot of fun, so I decided to stick with it.
Is robotics something you see yourself doing with your future?
Yeah! My plan after high school is to get certified in aviation mechanics, so the manufacturing and insulation of parts, which I do in robotics. I can hopefully carry that over into my job.
Will robotics help you get further with college and scholarships?
There are a lot of scholarship opportunities in robotics; a lot of big companies support us. At most competitions there are job stands where you can pitch yourself and they can offer you jobs and scholarship opportunities.
You’re on the track team, when did you join?
It was my freshman year during the outdoor season. Granted, it kind of got cut short because there was a big COVID epidemic that impacted the team. Only two kids actually ended up competing out of the whole team. But yeah I started during the first available season.
So has it always been pole vaulting for you from the start?
Yeah, pole vaulting was always my first choice because my uncle did it back when he was at Ledyard, and I was like, well, I don’t like running, so let me try pole vaulting. I was absolutely abysmal at it in the beginning, but it was a lot of fun, the people were awesome.
You run the pole vaulting Instagram, how did you come about doing that?
Yeah! That was kind of a joke that we made, but I do have control over that, between me and Jeannie Drummond.
@ledyardpv
You’re also senior class treasurer, what kind of responsibilities come with that?
There’s a lot of work that has to be done as a whole between all of the officers, we don’t really split up into our own classifications, we all do everything. Any position has responsibilities overall.
How have you found yourself balancing all of your activities and responsibilities?
I don’t have very much schoolwork this year. I ended up dropping the only class that gave me work which was calculus. So once the track season starts, I go to school, go to track, then robotics; then I come home, do some homework, hang out with friends, go to work. We have robotics on the weekends, which takes a lot of time, but it all fits together.
Anything else you would like to tell us about?
Just be involved, that’s the best thing you can do.
