Uncovering Hidden Tips For Homecoming

Everyone has secrets, and homecoming is no exception. Although most secrets are meant to be kept quiet, these secrets about homecoming are meant to be shared.  Attending homecoming is a privilege everyone should participate in during their high school years, like a rite of passage. The key to having fun at homecoming is trusting the secrets from those brave enough to share them.

Homecoming can be intimidating for a freshman, but the key is uncovering the hidden secrets. One of the first secrets unveiled by sophomore Aminah Jemmo was, “Getting ready and being with your friends before homecoming completes the homecoming process and makes the experience better.” Additionally, Julia Bonser, a sophomore, said her secret is, “making sure you take lots of pictures with your friends,” while Maddison Thomasson, a junior, and McKenzie Dykes, a sophomore, both agree that their tip ensures happy feet all night long by wearing comfortable dance shoes.

From the boys’ perspective, the secrets are a little bit different.  Their confidential information is not about getting ready together and making sure they look fabulous, but more about the practical side and having a good time. Liam Pelletier, a sophomore, said, “Make sure you bring a school ID,” and senior Jack Stsanton said to “bring a fan because it gets hot.” Junior, Greyson Stephenson, shared a secret that embodies the meaning of Homecoming. He said to, “…make sure you dance.”

While those tips are indeed important, this last secret from Abigail Suarez, a senior,  guarantees that your experience at the dance is personal. Suarez highly recommends, “Get a card of songs you and your friends like and give it to the DJ to play, to make unforgettable memories with great friends.”

Whether you’re a freshman or upperclassman, homecoming is a tradition that should not be scary or intimidating. When the music fades and the lights dim, the true secrets of homecoming are not meant to be secrets at all. Memories are built with the laughter shared while getting ready with friends, comfortable shoes that let you dance all night, a fan to keep you dancing, and the joy of hearing your favorite songs because you handed the DJ your dream playlist. Homecoming isn’t just a dance; it’s a celebration of connection, comfort, and unforgettable memories that began with shared secrets.
