December As and Fs

A: Christmas Break:

Christmas break was much needed for both students and teachers. It was nice to be able to wake up whenever you wanted for two whole weeks without worrying about school. While the time to relax was great, many students and teachers ended up being sick during the break, which made it harder to fully enjoy the time off. Even so, the break helped everyone rest and recharge before coming back to school. From what we’ve heard, everyone had a good holiday and enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

A: Winter Sports:

Winter sports are putting in the work this season, and it really shows. Girls’ basketball has been performing extremely well, holding a 4–2 record after their Holiday Tournament. The girls’ team has put in the work and is looking to go far. Boys’ basketball is currently 3–4, and after a lot of hard work, they are looking to secure a win against Plainfield. Wrestling has had an impressive season so far under its new head coach, and indoor track has been excelling this year, especially with its relay teams. As you can see, Ledyard High School sports are competitive, hardworking, and continue to improve as the season progresses. We are excited to see how everyone’s seasons continue.

B+: Door Decorating Contest:

The door decorating contest was a great addition to the festivities this season. Although there were many fabulous designs, this year’s winners were Ms. O’Brien’s freshmen class, Mrs. Lyon’s sophomore class, Ms. Szell’s junior class, and Mrs. Fazzino’s senior class. Get started thinking about next year’s door decorating contest if you want to win.

B: In-School Carolers:

This year’s school Carolers were amazing to see. Every year, they get better and better, adding new additions to their unit. This year, they brought back some old carols, which everyone loved hearing and enjoyed very much. The Carolers kept busy this winter and performed very well at every performance they did. It truly is amazing how they do it. The Carolers would sometimes have five shows in one day, which is outstanding.

C: Festive Fridays:

Festive Fridays were back this year and weren’t really broadcast to the students as much as they

were to the teachers. Knowing this, the teachers would dress up, but the students would have no

idea what the festive Friday was. Going forward next year, we should post and broadcast the

days more. The teachers looked amazing tho and were very creative with their outfit ideas; they

went all out and weren’t afraid of dressing up.
