Arise and thrive Colonels! It’s about time administration gives us more rest. Starting April 6, Ledyard High School is starting at a later time! This will make classes shorter, easier for our brain to retain information and better for you, overall. The schedule starts at 10:00 and the day still ends at 2:05!
Going to school and then having work, sports, and homework after is already tiring for hardworking students. Scientists have proven that when students get 6-8 hours of sleep they are more energized, remember things easier, and are ready to learn. Mr. Hale is super excited about this, “maybe my students will pay attention and stop using their backpacks as pillows.”
What will the schedule look like? Many people have been questioning this. First Block will be called Pre-Lunch Homeroom, as you head to second block you will treat it just as third block, with a first and second lunch!
Teachers/ staff are looking forward to this as Ms. DiMella says, “I haven’t enjoyed the schedule ever, not a fan of mornings.” Because of DiMella’s fighting personality, she made a staff nap lounge, because “teachers deserve the extra snooze.” In this lounge DiMella will teach advanced snoozing techniques, with REM- sleep tests. If you’re a sleep talker you better go home, no sleep talking allowed!
To the one that has it all on their plate, the principal will be sending via bed Zoom/videos. This will come as morning announcements and athletic announcements, including any changes to game schedules. The principal will work from home, leaving Ledyard only the vice principals on school property.
Get your blankets and pillows ready to be extra loved!
