Have you fallen victim to random children coming up to you and referencing some odd thing called Skibidi Toilet? Perhaps singing a theme song about it? “Skibidi Toilet” falls under what is referred to as the “brain rot” section of modern internet consumption. Brain rot is a slang word to describe someone’s brain “deteriorating” or regressing due to excessive consumption of chronic online media.
Created by Alexey Gerasimov, a 26-year-old Russian-Georgian YouTuber, the now viral Skibidi Toilet stems from a YouTube shorts series whose plot revolves around a head in a toilet singing a song with the phrase “Skibidi Toilet.” IMDb says that the series is Machinima dystopian. Machinima is a type of filmmaking that uses real-time 3D graphics of video games to create animated films, and dystopian is defined as “relating to or denoting an imagined state or society where there is great suffering or injustice” by Oxford Languages. The series features animated toilets that have talking heads coming out. These heads are trying to take over the world. There are creatures called CameraHeads, or humanoids who have CCTV camera heads and work to fight off the Skibidi Toilet heads as they are at war. Many additional episodes introduce new characters. One of these remixes is where the “Skibidi Dom dom, yes yes” song originates.
Hopefully, this helped you better understand what is being referenced and perhaps caused you to question the internet a little more.
