Here’s what you missed if you weren’t sitting on the sidelines these past three weeks:
Football started the season off with two consecutive shut outs — 37-0 against the Stonington Bears and a 21-0 win over Cranston East. Key senior returnees are quarterback Ty Ebdon, Justin Carter and Luke Saccone. They travel to Canamella Field to face New London Oct. 2.
Boys’ Cross Country took fourth place at the Windham Invite on Sept. 12. Their next home meet is Oct. 6 against Griswold, East Lyme and Wheeler. Key runners include senior Aaron Norcia, junior Christian Kuss and sophomore Jacob Money. The Varsity Boys finished fourth overall out of 37 at the Ocean State Invitational Sept. 26.
Girls’ Cross Country lost to Fitch 28-27 in a meet at Stenger Farm Park Sept. 15. Seniors Megan Brawner and Destiny Kuss had career bests at St. Bernard Sept. 29. Brawner placed fifth in a Varsity Girls race at Windham Sept. 12. The Lady Colonels compete against Griswold, East Lyme and Wheeler with a 4:30 p.m. start Oct. 6.
Boys’ Soccer lost against Bacon Academy at a home game Sept. 25. Key returnees for the season include seniors Evan Bresnan, Simon Bohn, Kevin Brawner and Grant Fowler. Boys JV practices at Blonders Park. Varsity Boys will host the Killingly Redmen with a 6 p.m. start Oct. 6.
Girls’ Varsity Soccer had their first home game against Norwich Free Academy Sept. 24. Both Varsity and JV teams beat the Fitch Falcons, 6-0 and 4-0, respectively. The Colonels face off against East Lyme Oct. 13 at Blonders Park. Defense players include seniors Hannah Arnold and Olivia Holubecki. Other key members include Kelly Lamb in midfield and Emily Kowalski and Alyssa Samson as forwards.
Girls’ Swimming advances to 3-1 on the season. The Colonels defeated Windham Sept. 25 and had a 91-74 win over Norwich Free Academy Sept. 22. The girls’ team hosts Fitch at the Mashantucket Community Center pool Oct. 2. Key swimmers this year are seniors Molly Barnett, Sydney Dudda, Morgan Wicken, Olivia Satti and Hannah Terrapin. Up and coming swimmers include sophomore Libby Dudda and freshmen Olivia Strelevitz and Maddie Johanson.
Girls’ Volleyball defeated New London Sept. 25 with key players Dani Tynan, Jenna Boyd and Julianna Duben, all seniors. The Varsity girls travel to Griswold Oct. 9 for a 5:30 p.m. start. Tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for students.
