September 17: Athlete of the Week

Ledyard native, junior Brayden Grim, was voted athlete of the week for his accomplishments on the Ledyard High School football team for the week of  September 17. Even though the Colonels didn’t clinch the win against Bunnell High School, Grim still had an outstanding performance with over 80 yards, ran on 13 carries, and scoring the only touchdown in the game for the Colonels.

Grim has loved the game of football since he was able to walk; he also enjoyed playing other sports like basketball and baseball, but it was something about football that he really fell in love with. His favorite memory of the football season so far is his touchdown against Bunnell, breaking a couple of tackles as he fought his way into the end zone.

Even with a new coaching staff, Grim, trusts his new coach and believes they will go far. When Brayden was asked how he felt after receiving the Athlete of the Week honor, he stated,“It felt pretty good because I worked hard every day in practice and it showed.” In regards to how football makes him feel, Grim states,  “It motivates me to keep working hard in practice and performing my best in games because I know I can always do better.” Winning Athlete of the Week once isn’t enough for Grim; he plans on winning multiple times showing the ECC’S what he is capable of doing this season.
