Senior Set-In

Transitioning and setting into your senior year can feel claustrophobic. Today, we asked a handful of seniors how they have adapted to senior year.

How have you adapted or set into senior year?

Theresa Post:  “It feels almost unreal; I remember coming in with years to go. Now I am going to college next year.”

Zoey Hennessy: “Everyone around me is speaking on their post-school plans.”

Aiden Oliver: “It’s taken a pretty long time. I wouldn’t say I’ve fully adapted but there is a lot more freedom to it.”

Tony Saldato: “Tough question. Keeping up the same work ethic since sophomore year. We are the top dawgs now but still have work, homework, all of that.”

What is something senior year has brought you so far that you never would have expected before?

Theresa Post: “Probably showing me the path I want to choose in life.”

Aiden Oliver: “A lot, lot harder than I thought it would be.”

Tony Saldato: “Um, I don’t know if it’s late enough in the year to answer that. Maybe that I would be in classes with so many friends.”

Give one piece of advice to the underclassmen and future seniors?

Zoey Hennessy: “Actually do stuff on time. Be punctual. Don’t procrastinate.”

Aiden Oliver: “Do your Capstone early. Don’t wait.”

Tony Saldato: “Do your homework on Saturday, so you’re not stressed on Sunday. Get involved and stay involved; you only have four years to make high school worth it.”

Senior year comes with many trials and tribulations. It is up to seniors to not just navigate through it, but to navigate it together. Be a pillar to peers, be a shoulder worth leaning on, and most importantly of all, embody what it means to be a Ledyard Colonel.

Senior Billy Sharpe is a staff writer for the 2024-2025 Colonel Newsmagazine. He enjoys writing stories and making music. He also indulges in multiple sports.
