The Secrets Spotify Wrapped Reveals

As 2025 comes to a close, the end of the year brings many events to look forward to. On December 3, 2025, Spotify released users’ listening statistics in a colorful Spotify wrapped story presentation. This year, Spotify allowed users to guess which song was their most listened to top song. They also included statistics about how many minutes a user listened in total, most listened to albums, most listened to artist, and users listening age. Listening age is a number comparing listening habits to others that age. At the end, some celebrity artists left a short video message for their listeners. Some notable clips are from Taylor Swift, Tate McRae, and Givion. Ledyard High School students are avid Spotify listeners who use music to help focus, motivate, or just to enjoy. We asked students various questions about the Spotify statistics, in hopes of uncovering some secret super fans and guilty pleasure songs.

Ledyard High School’s freshman class loves using Spotify, which has shown their varied music tastes. Freshman Jaylese Bonilla is a big Megan Moroney fan. She was Bonilla’s top artist for 2025. The top genre that she listened to was pop, and she listened for a total of 20,000 minutes on Spotify.

Freshman Alyeena Willis is another avid Spotify user. She listened to music on Spotify for 18,000 minutes this year. Her most listened to album was HARDSTONE PSYCHO by Don Toliver. Willis was surprised to find that her most listened to song this year was “No Role Modelz” by J. Cole. “I was surprised that my top song was a song that I was only obsessed with for half of the year. I listened to it so much in that time that it remained my number one all year,” Willis said.

Sophomore year requires lots of motivation and provides time for independent work, which is most often accompanied by music. Abigail Watson listened for a total of 6,228 minutes this year. Her number one artist was Taylor Swift. To match her favorite artist, her number one album was The Life of a Showgirl. Taylor Swift even left a message for her fans in which she thanked them for listening to her music and for being such a strong and supportive fanbase. Watson’s listening age was 48, and although she was an avid Swift supporter, her number one song was Mr. Brightside by The Killers.

Sophomore Ryan Hewes was shocked by the number of minutes he listened to music on Spotify this year, which was a surprising 125,345 minutes! This is equivalent to 87 days that Hewes spent listening. During these 87 days some of his notable favorites were “Courtesy of the Red, White, and Blue” by Toby Keith, and “Upside Down” by Jack Johnson. These crazy statistics are a testament to Hewes’ love for music.

Juniors locked in on their work and music tastes in 2025. Latham Fothergill listened for a total of 5,826 minutes. The freshmen still have him beat with their listening time, though. His number one song was “Babydoll” by Dominic Fike. Fothergill also has a wide variety of genres that he enjoys. He listened to over 410 different artists and was in the top 8% of Tyler, the Creator fans. Displaying his expanded view, he also remarked on his love for Bob Marley, even though his music is very different from that of Dominic Fike or Tyler the Creator.

Junior Samuel Dunsmore is an NF superfan as he was in the top 0.05% of NF listeners this year. Spotify gave him a listening age of 26 based on his song selections. Dunsmore was very surprised that the Chris Stapleton song, “Where Rainbows Never Die,” was in his top 5 most listened to songs.

For our last junior, we interviewed Greyson Stephenson. His top artist for 2025 was Lana Del Ray. Surprisingly, Stephenson’s listening age was 71. He also said, “ I was surprised that I only listened to my top song 38 times, which was “Pure Smokey” by George Harrison.”

Senior Sunny Dudda’s top artist was Brendon Jones, and her Spotify listening age was 47. Dudda’s top song was “Homecoming” by The Teenagers, which she listened to 178 times this year. Sunny said, “The most surprising statistic was that I only had 54,000 listening minutes in total. I thought I had listened more.” Although this number is large compared to the other amounts of listening numbers we have seen, Dudda finds it small, showing her love for listening to music.

Senior Faith Dalton’s number one song this year was “Greedy” by Tate McRae, who was also her top artist this year. Her listening age was 27, and she listened a total of 27,000 minutes. Dalton gained many of these minutes in the morning, “I like to listen to music in the morning, specifically 2010’s pop, to get me hyped for my day,” Dalton said.

Ledyard students have displayed a variety of tastes when it comes to their music selection. Spotify Wrapped has given us a nice recap of events from 2025 by showing us the music we listened to at certain times. Now we must wait another year to see which artists we tuned in to the most in 2026. Who do you think your top artist will be next year?
