The Ledyard girls’ varsity volleyball team started the season struggling with an overall record of 6-3. The team consists of nine seniors and two starting juniors, Mallory Foote and Julia Bonser. On Sept. 22,  Ledyard played against tough competition, the Waterford Lancers, dragging the game to the fifth set and winning 15-8. Senior Lia D’Amato had 20 assists, 11 digs, and 4 aces. Bonser had 10 kills; Norah Gambardella, Brooklyn Hepburn, and Olivea Shelton all had 7 kills each!

This game was a big deal for the Colonels because they haven’t beaten Waterford in almost five years, and head coach Jeff promised the girls a rap if they won their game that night; the team knew what was on the line and dominated in the fifth set. Senior Skylar Cimino said, “It lit the mood for sure; we were in  a close set; it took nerves off and hyped us up.” Make sure to keep up with the Ledyard Colonels; come out and support the team!
