The Crucible

This Nov. 21 and 22, the drama program’s production of The Crucible by Arthur Miller will hit the stage with 23 Ledyard students taking the pivotal roles of characters such as Abigail Williams, the lying and manipulative villain, played by Kali Money; John Proctor, the good and tragic hero, played by Alec Chattin; and Reverend Hale, the intellectual force behind the terrible witch-hunts, played by Eli Uttley-Rosado.

By telling a story of the Salem Witch Trials, Arthur Miller spins a tale of lies, desire, hidden agendas, intolerance, and reputation, proving that what someone says can have lasting effects, whether or not his or her words are true.

“I like doing real standard stuff in high school that everyone should know,” Director Russell Hammond said. “I was really looking to do something dramatic after Rumors, which was a comedy. I wanted something powerful and significant.” In addition, the drama program is growing, and The Crucible has a larger cast list to accommodate more student involvement.
