The film adaptation of the last novel in The Hunger Games trilogy is finally here. But here’s the catch: it’s split into two parts. Mockingjay, Part 1 opened at Number One in the box office, grossing $480 million worldwide in the first ten days of its release. Directed by Francis Lawrence and starring Jennifer Lawrence, Liam Hemsworth, and Josh Hutcherson, Mockingjay, Part 1 knocks it out of the park. From action-packed war sequences to well-acted dramatic scenes, this film manages to captivate and interest the audience. Set in post-apocalyptic North America, the film follows Katniss Everdeen, a victor of the 74th annual Hunger Games; a battle between twenty-four children to the death. After being dragged back into the next annual Hunger Games, Katniss tries to fight back. The battle between the rebels and the Capitol is invigorating and fiery, suitable for the nickname of our heroine, “The Girl on Fire.” If you liked Catching Fire or The Hunger Games, you’ll love this movie. With insanely believable special effects and an amazing cast, Mockingjay, Part 1 is sure to blow your mind.
