On the second of May, a legendary fight occurred: Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao faced off in the ring. People were on edge, excited to see the brutal outcome of these two great boxers, eager to see who would come out as champion. But did the fighters really deliver?
Many say that this fight did not live up to the hype it had built up, since Mayweather, “a defensive specialist,” was able to dodge many of Pacquiao’s punches and keep him at bay for most of the time, as well as win the match. Mayweather also had an undefeated record of 47-0; it wasn’t exactly a surprise for most of the fans. Many fans are saying, “Did I really spend $100 for that?”
However, new disputes between the two boxers are coming out of this fight. According to the Associated Press, Pacquiao claimed to have a shoulder injury, a torn rotator cuff, and that Mayweather had known this and used it to his advantage to win the fight. Though outing this information may seem beneficial in the eyes of Pacquiao to defeat his opponent after the fight, he is experiencing consequences of his own. It was found that he had withheld this injury from a questionnaire from the Nevada Athletic Commission, which is the boxing governing body in Las Vegas, and he could face a fine or suspension.
The Mayweather vs. Pacquiao fight didn’t exactly please the fans, and was said to be “not even worth the money,” but the controversy continues; who will win now?
