Chamber Choir and Select Singers Attend Providence College Festival

Chamber Choir and Select Singers missed school Jan. 29 to attend the Providence College High School Invitational Choral Festival. Each choir performed and received constructive criticism from a college professor for each song they performed. Each chorus sang on average three songs. There were two professors present and they took turns, said senior Sasha Lopez-Watson.

“It’s cool to see them work on stage with the choirs,” she said, “because you can tell right away what the differences are when the professor gives them something to improve on.”

The audience is comprised of all the other participating chorus groups.

“The best part is getting to hear other good groups sing,” senior Kevin Hutchins said. “It’s good to hear someone else for a change.”

“It’s nice to hear and learn from [groups with other sounds],” sophomore Emma Grabner said.

Ledyard has been attending the event for five years. Other schools from New England such as Notre Dame and Winsor were also present.
