Panic!AtTheDisco (P!ATD) is a pop rock/punk/emo band that has been around since the early 2000’s. With Brendon Urie as the only surviving member as the band slowly spilt up, many are surprised the band survived. When they appeared with their first single, “I Write Sins Not Tragedies”, they had stable popularity. They released their first album, “A Fever You Can’t Sweat Out”, in 2005. In 2016, they released their fifth album, “Death Of A Bachelor”, almost a decade later. Now, Urie is releasing his new album, “Pray For The Wicked”. Urie, however, was full of surprises at the beginning of the year, announcing a new tour as well.
“Pray for the Wicked” is set to be released on June 22 and the tour will start on July 11. The two biggest shows, in New York and Boston, are already sold out. The tour will travel to 30 venues, with even two stops in Great Britain. A R I Z O N A and Hayley Kiyoko were announced as the opening acts. A R I Z O N A is a rock and electro-pop band that may be recognized by their song “Oceans Away” that got 35.8 million streams on Spotify. Hayley Kiyoko is fairly common, too. She has a single on the radio, “Curious”, which is on her debut album.
Fans have already gotten the chance to listen to some of the music on the new album and three songs were already released on Youtube, Spotify and other music streaming platforms. “(F**k A) Silver Lining” and “(Say Amen) Saturday Night” were released March 21, but P!ATD released a new song to be on the album on May 23. “High Hopes” is only the third song of eleven to be released. Fans are excited to see what this album will have in store for them. If it’s anything like “Death of A Bachelor,” it will be a huge hit.
Brendon Urie had been away from his music for a while to be in the Broadway musical “Kinky Boots” as Charlie Price. He wrote most of the songs on “Pray For The Wicked” based on the experiences he’d had over the past few years. “‘Pray For The Wicked’ is my ‘thank you’ to our fans and the most fun I’ve ever had making album,” he stated when asked why he wrote his latest album. He seems almost as excited about the new tour and album as his fans. Now his fans just have to wait patiently for the release of the new album. Save the date: June 22.
