Senior Spotlight: Danniella Batty

Senior Daniella “Dani” Batty has been an important part of Ledyard’s Marching Band since she was five years old. Whether it was from being a musician in middle and high school or even helping when her brother was in marching band (2009-2013), Dani has always had a love for band.

Dani is seen by her peers as kind, considerate, and confident, even though she thinks of herself as shy.

Q: What club or activity has most affected you during your four years at Ledyard?

A: Marching band and band in general because we’ve grown so much as a family that I know I will always have people I can count on.

Q: What do you plan to do after high school?

A: I plan to go to Three River Community College for the first two years of college, then transfer to a larger school, and hopefully get a job as a high school history teacher.

Q: If you could change one thing about society, what would it be?

A: How mean and hurtful people are to one another. I wish everyone could be nicer to each other and more honest because it really is such an easy act to do.

Q: What is something you feel strongly about?

A: Making sure everyone knows their value and that everyone has the right to be whoever they want to be. People should be able to be themselves comfortably.

Q: Who has made the biggest impact on your life?

A: Not to be cliche but Harry Styles and Dan Howell. Harry Styles’s whole brand “Treat People With Kindness” has positively affected my mindset and how I treat others. Dan Howell makes an effort to tell people that they matter, which is also so admirable.
