Come May, the University of Connecticut will be shutting down its Torrington campus due to statewide budget cuts.
The university announced its plan to close the campus on March 25, with the UConn Board of Trustees voting on the proposed budget plan April 27 (Fox 61).
The campus’ 88 full-time students will have to relocate to another nearby campus in Waterbury (New England Public Radio).
The decision to shut Torrington’s doors was due to the limited number of students enrolled there and the Board predicted little increase in enrollment over the next few years.
