One month of school is down, and as fall comes, leaves start to turn into the shades of autumn and then cascade down. It is now spooky season! It is finally time to start bringing out pumpkin spice and everything nice!
With the colder weather coming in, fall traditions are rolling in as well, such as picking fall fruits at Holmberg’s, and drinking their apple cider, warm or cold. You can´t forget their cider doughnuts, which are really delicious. And of course, riding the tractor. All of it is a must for the fall season in Ledyard.
And the holiday everyone loves, Halloween. Halloween brings pumpkin carving, hayrides, trick or treating, and classic songs such as “Monster Mash” and “Thriller” playing everywhere. One of the best things about Halloween is all of the classic movies, “Hocus Pocus,” “Casper,” and “It’s The Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown,” to name a few. “Hocus Pocus” is available through Disney Plus. “Casper” can be bought or rented through Youtube and Amazon Prime and It’s the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown” can be streamed through Apple TV.
Nothing is better than getting cozy with a blanket, a hot drink and a good book. Now is also a good time for baking! Whether it is putting the classic Pillsbury holiday cookies in the oven, or making homemade apple pie, you can’t go wrong with either. And of course, drinks! Now that it is cold out, bring out the hot drinks! Hot Chocolate, Pumpkin Spice Lattes, Warm Cider, the list goes on.
So if you are new in town, or don’t know what to do this fall, I suggest doing some of these. As Lauren DeStefano says, “Fall has always been my favorite season. The time when everything bursts with its last beauty, as if nature had been saving up all year for the grand finale.”
