Junior Prom Report Card

This year’s Junior Prom was a blast to many. Dancing with friends, dressing up to the nines, and being able to spend a night out around the people closest to you, all brings great fun. With 171 attending last year’s dance and 157 (Smaller graduating class) attending this year’s dance the results may shock you (10 seniors attended each year). Junior Prom 24’ was a 10/10 to many but in reality, was it really 10s all around?

The Setting: A+

Taking place at the Lake of Isles club building was a good move as it is spacious but doesn’t feel massive. The club also gave adequate space for the photo booth, tables and food catering, the DJ, and the “bar” with the dance floor being big enough for almost all in attendance.

The DJ: C+

The DJ started off only playing songs no earlier than 2010 and no later than 2020. It was sad to see some of the newer, party-like songs miss out on their chance to be played. Once the lights went off, the DJ picked himself back up playing multiple good songs like, “Just Wanna Rock” by Lil Uzi Vert, or “Plain Jane” by ASAP Ferg. My biggest complaint is the playing of “Thrift Shop” by Macklemore as this song has never been in style and should retire to the hole it belongs in.

The Bar and Servers: A

The mocktail bar at the venue was amazing. Their seasonal drink menu brought top choices like the Roy Rogers, Cranberry Lemonade, Shirley Temple. Many people enjoyed the bar and frequented it all night. The servers were really nice and did a good job not to be caught in the middle of the action. The servers were very efficient at keeping tables clear and taking care of the slight messes left behind.

Sitting/Dancing Ratio: B+

In comparison to the Junior prom last year, many more people were out of their seats and on the dancefloor than those sitting at their tables. Last year’s dance had multiple full tables sitting and not partaking in the activities compared to this year where there were at most 10 people at their seat at a time. More fun comes when everybody can have fun.

Food: C+

The opinion on the food swings all over the place depending on whose scale you’re going off of but ultimately lands at a C+. Some people loved the food while some thought it sucked and a big group of people who simply thought it could’ve been better. With options like pasta, chicken alfredo, taco bar, and even a dessert table, the meal appealed to all.

Photo Booth: A-

The photo booth was placed in the area around the bar instead of being in a desolate corner like last year. The placement option of the booth allowed for a better area with a better backdrop in comparison to last year. The photo booth was free and even came with its own accessories to dress up in. When it’s your turn, you are given three photos and almost every group in attendance got one set of photos or more. The biggest complaint would be the guy who was printing out the pictures. He would wander aimlessly and always felt in the way, almost like an extra, unneeded body.
