Ms. Szell asked us (the journalism class) to write articles to celebrate seniors since it is not that long until the class of 2025 graduates. I am a senior, so I will celebrate myself. I am so happy and excited to graduate. Cya suckas!
In all seriousness, although cliche, it feels like just yesterday that I had been attending my 8th grade graduation, high school orientation, and was nervous about joining the soccer team. Over the past four years, I have experienced many things, each helping shape me into the person I am as I write this.
“I’ve made some friends, and I’ve lost some, too,” is a line from Andrew McMahon’s song Cecelia in The Satellite, #relatable. Along with many of my peers, I have been trying to figure out what my next step is, which is hard when I feel like I’m still in my sophomore year. I am not trying to leave my cat and dog behind, let’s be for real.
Becoming responsible for myself has made me much more impressed with my parents because this is ridiculous. I need people to stop saying these are the best years of my life because that’s not hype, I am trying to be a teenager forever. You’re not going to catch me growing up, laughing out loud. I am excited to take on a new chapter and find myself outside of this small town I’ve lived in my whole life. It’s so insane that all these kids I have known for however long are soon to become teachers, doctors, lawyers, etc. No matter what they do in life, we will forever have shared the past few years and will soon be scattered throughout the world. That’s pretty crazy. So, if you are a senior reading this, good luck, I hope you achieve even your wildest dreams. The world is yours, so get excited and get out there.
