A+: Halloween Blood Drive
Our Halloween Blood Drive was a great success. It collected 29 units of blood that could save 87 lives. If you didn’t have a chance to sign up for the Halloween Blood Drive, there’s another chance. On February 11, you can donate blood if you are 16 years of age or older. Mrs. Schwenk did great accents on the intercom every morning to entertain us and draw attention to the various events the school had going on. My favorites were the country accents and the vampire one. We ate that up.
A-: Ledyard Fall Sports
Ledyard Athletics continues to make the school proud. With volleyball making it to semi finals of ECCS and semis of States, football winning against the Windham Whippets and East Lyme making them 5-2, boys’ cross country winning States, boys’ soccer winning in semi finals against Stonington 2-1 advancing them to the finals, girls’ soccer heading into States, girls’ swim competing in ECC championships, all contributing to Ledyard having awesome fall athletics
A-: Meet the Choirs
Meet the Choirs went great; it was an amazing start to the year for the choir, and really set the tone for a great year of music ahead. Abby Suarez says her favorite part was when they premiered In This Heart. The choir did amazing, but they said they can definitely top this performance.
B+: College Fair
Everyone said it was great. There was great food and a great selection of colleges. There was something for everyone. The only downfall was that some people didn’t know what to talk to the college reps about or how to ask them questions. We can start to brainstorm ideas or improve on that next year.
B+: Homecoming
Ledyard Homecoming was great; everyone had fun, the music was great, and everyone looked stunning. Even though we lost the football game in the last few seconds, everyone had a lot of fun at homecoming. We loved looking at everyone’s posts the next day!
C+: Spirit Week
Spirit Week was good, but participation could have been so much better. The people who did participate looked amazing and gave me so many laughs. The pep rally was so much fun, too. Everyone tried their hardest to win and brought the spirit.
C-: PSATS
The feeling of waking up for school, when the freshmen and seniors don’t have to, was miserable for the sophomores and juniors. Having the experience of this practice test should help us next year for the real SATs. Although the actual test wasn’t terrible, the bad part was when we finished one section, we had to wait for a 30-minute timer to progress to the next section, and we had to do this for four sections.
D+: Room temperatures
The temperature of the rooms is iffy. When you walk into one room, it’s freezing, and you can’t focus in class. But the next room you walk into is so hot, and you’re sweating. Everyone has been complaining about it, which is so valid. We would love a temperature that’s in the middle, so we can be comfortable while we are trying to get an education.
