The Importance of Opinion

A note from your Editor: When 2015 came to a close, my New Year’s resolution was to be more patient. It is now February and this resolution is now testing my personal strength as a young adult. As I begin to make my way into the real world, people still surprise me, and not in… Read More The Importance of Opinion

Saving Lives

There are nearly 50 different clubs at the high school and most of them host fundraisers in an attempt to raise money for their cause. Many of these clubs are for humanitarian organizations. These clubs carefully plan fundraisers for the different parts of the year, carefully noting when people will be most interested in buying… Read More Saving Lives

No Press Please!

Setting a new record for one of the highest lottery prizes in history, the Powerball jackpot quickly rose to a steep $1.5 billion. Unless you buy your ticket in one of only six states that doesn’t require you to come forward — Delaware, Kansas, Maryland, North Dakota, Ohio, or South Carolina — good luck staying… Read More No Press Please!

Diversity vs. Quality

The 88th annual Academy Awards Show is taking place Feb. 28 and bringing more controversy than trophies. Last year, ratings dropped a deep 16 percent because of a lack of diversity — all nominees were white. This is the second consecutive year that the Academy has neglected to nominate any actors of color in the… Read More Diversity vs. Quality

Oscars Whiteout

The Academy Awards, more commonly known as the Oscars, have repeatedly received backlash from both viewers and actors for failing to diversify nominees. For the second year in a row, all nominations were for white actors. The Oscars has a huge problem with racism and lack of diversity. The entire system is extremely flawed. Since… Read More Oscars Whiteout

Two Fathers are Better Than None

Although gay marriage was legalized in the United States by the Supreme Court on June 26, 2015, members of the lesbian gay bisexual transgender (LGBT) community are continuing to fight for even the most common rights they deserve, including the ability to adopt a child. Statistics show that there’s five times the amount of LGBT… Read More Two Fathers are Better Than None

Affluenza or Pure Stupidity?

Affluenza, that was how defense-hired psychologist explained it, but in actuality it was purely teenage stupidity. Ethan Couch killed four people and injured another when he decided that he was sober enough to drive. At 16 years of age, he shouldn’t have had any alcohol in his system. But Couch was found with a… Read More Affluenza or Pure Stupidity?

Part 2: Sanders or Trump?

If you pay even the slightest bit attention to the news, you will know who Donald Trump is. He is everywhere, along with all his pitiful ideas and racial slurs. I recently watched a video of one of his rallies. I watched in awe as he bashed all Muslims and said he would put cameras… Read More Part 2: Sanders or Trump?

Part 1: Sanders or Trump?

One of the biggest topics in America right now is the upcoming presidential election of November 2016 and whose name will appear on the ballot for Republican and Democratic candidates. Bernie Sanders is the best Democratic candidate and the best option for President of the United States. Sanders is one of few politicians to actually… Read More Part 1: Sanders or Trump?

Coverage Concerns

On Nov. 13, horror struck in Paris, France. On the same day, in Baghdad, Iraq. A day earlier, in Beirut, Lebanon. All three were targets of mass suicide bombings, but only one was covered by major news networks like CNN, ABC and BBC. Why? Paris received an outpouring of love and support around the globe… Read More Coverage Concerns
