Movies Coming Out in 2021

In 2020, it seemed as though we had millions of movies in the works. However, due to COVID-19 many productions came to a halt and release dates were postponed. Now with better safety precautions being taken, it looks as though 2021 will be the year for the film industry to thrive! These are the new and postponed releases coming to screens near you!

Cherry – February 26

This coming February, Tom Holland can be seen in the new drama Cherry. Holland has paired with directors Joe and Anthony Russo on the film, who also directed Avengers: Endgame and Avengers: Infinity War. The movie, which is based on a book of the same name, is about Cherry’s life going from being an army medic in Iraq to a civilian battling his PTSD and beginning to commit crimes. He also meets Emily, played by Ciara Bravo, along the way who becomes his new love interest.

No Time To Die – April 2

This newest Bond film has been postponed twice already as the producers are hoping that viewers will be able to watch the movie in the theater when it is released. However, the release date is currently set for this April and there is a possibility of it being released on streaming services, like Apple TV+ or Netflix, instead of showing in theaters. The movie shows Bond, once again, coming out of retirement to rescue a kidnapped scientist. Rami Malek plays the villain, Salin, who could use the scientist to kill millions around the globe.

Top Gun: Maverick – July 2

Tom Cruise will return to the airfield in the sequel to the 1986 film Top Gun. The release of Top Gun: Maverick, has also been postponed twice, so our fingers are crossed that we will be able to see it this year. The movie is about Pete “Maverick” Mitchell returning to train a new set of graduates for a life-or-death mission.

Dune – October 1

This movie, which was supposed to be released last December, stars Timothée Chalamet as Prince Paul Atreides who travels to the most dangerous planet in the galaxy in order to ensure protection of his family. He is in search of the planet’s natural resource, Melange, which is capable of space travel, extending life, and enhancing mental abilities.

Mission: Impossible 7 – November 19

This year is a big film year for Tom Cruise as he has a new Top Gun movie and a new Mission: Impossible movie coming out. While a synopsis has not been released for the film, we do know that they are currently filming in Italy under strict COVID-19 guidelines.

Untitled Spider-Man 3 – December 17

We do not know much about the movie as of right now, but Tom Holland has posted a picture on Instagram about how they have started filming. The post showed Holland in his spidey-suit from the 2019 film, Spider-Man: Far From Home, along with a face mask over the costume. He captioned the photo “Wear a mask, I’m wearing two.” Fans are speculating that the movie will include past Spidermans alongside Holland. We will just have to wait and see!
